WEYMOUTH Tall Ship Pelican will join the town’s carnival celebrations on August 20 before she sails for one of the most popular regattas on the calendar.
At 45 metres long, Pelican cuts quite a dash when she is dressed for the festivities and the public is welcome aboard to look around.
Kate Graeme-Cook from charity Adventure Under Sail said: “It’s great news that Pelican and her crew will be in Weymouth to celebrate the carnival which is the highlight of the town’s summer festivities.
“People will be able to have a good look round and see what is involved in sailing a tall ship. It’s a great opportunity.”
Pelican sails for the Channel Islands on August 25 then on to the Tall Ships Regatta in Falmouth (August 28-30).
Berths are still available for the voyage and applications are being taken from anyone aged 16-80.
It gives those aboard the chance to enjoy all the challenges of crewing a tall ship, including navigation, rigging and sail stowing.
No previous sailing experience is necessary.
