JASON Matthews expressed his happiness after his side got their Southern Premier League campaign off to a flyer.

The Terras’ boss admitted they didn’t have it all their own way throughout the contest, but was pleased with the 3-1 win over Hungerford Town, which included treating Weymouth fans to a slick set-piece move for the hosts’ second goal.

“I am absolutely delighted, it’s great to get off to a win,” he told Echosport.

“I wanted the league to start last week and this week couldn’t come quicker.

“In the second half I felt we came out and played very well, scored a good goal to settle the nerves early and I couldn’t see them scoring.”

On the well-worked routine from a corner to edge his side back into the lead, Matthews added:“Although the game was fairly end- to-end, I felt we were quite comfortable and to score from a set-piece that we worked on on Thursday is extremely pleasing.

“It didn’t go quite to plan because we only wanted to throw in one dummy but Kells (Adam Kelly) wanted to get in on the act, but for Yetts to strike it in the top corner was brilliant.”
