DORCHESTER v SHERBORNE

DAN Belt is relishing the prospect of his Dorchester side’s top-of-the-table clash against Sherborne tomorrow (1pm).

The county town outfit hold a slender two-point advantage over Sherborne at the Premier Two summit with only two games left after this weekend.

Dorchester no had problems seeing off Martinstown last time out, bouncing back from a points deduction for fielding an ineligible player to win by seven wickets.

Meanwhile, Sherborne, who beat Dorchester when they met in July – the first regular season fixture between the sides was washed out – edged home against Bere Regis last Saturday.

Shaun Little replaces fellow spinner Joe Power in the Dorchester team and Belt can’t wait to get going tomorrow.

“It’s a huge game for us and being at the top we want to get as many points as possible,” he said.

“If you’re a sportsman you look forward to the big games and this is probably the biggest game of our season so far.

“Everyone is up for it and everyone around the club in general is looking forward to it.

“We just want to go out there and try and bowl them out as cheaply as possible, as we have done to teams this season, and we know we are capable of hitting runs as well.”

As for that five-point penalty, he added: “It did spur the lads on. I sent out a message before the last game for them to show what we are about and they did that.”

Martinstown are only six points adrift of Dorchester in third and they go to Bere Regis tomorrow.

Elsewhere, in County Division Two, Dorchester Seconds make the trip to leaders Cerne Valley, Beaminster are away to Bournemouth Thirds and Portland Red Triangle host Cattistock.

Portland’s second XI have a local derby at Abbotsbury to look forward to in Division Four.

Dorchester: Holland, Moxom, Evans, Belt, Guppy, Scott, Mitchem, Morris, Dunham, Little, Porter
