WEYMOUTH Golf Club’s ladies’ section have enjoyed some fantastic success over the last month.

The Beales final result has been published with Weymouth coming second in their group, and the Sergeant Cup was won by Sharon Rand.

There was also joy for Sally Davis who, for the second year running, is the Ladies’ club champion.

This gruelling 36-hole competition is won on aggregate from the best two gross scores from two rounds. Davis won the competition with a gross score of 172.

The Van Noort Cup, also played over 36 holes, is for the best nett score and was won in fine style by Rachel Abbott with a total nett score of 135.

The Interclub team have had four matches with a 3.5-3.5 draw against Came Down, a 5-2 loss to Bridport, a 4.5-2.5 win over Broadstone, and a win by the same margin over Wareham.

LADIES’ STABLEFORD RESULTS

Division One: 1 Sally Davis (35pts), 2 Julie Hacket (33pts), 3 Sharon Rand (33pts).

Division Two: 1 Maria Davies (30pts), 2 Jean Green (30pts), 3 Maria Woodham (29pts).

In the junior section, the Cyril Wyatt Memorial Cup was played last week and is dedicated to one of the club’s founder members.

It is an in house under-and-over 18 years pairs competition.

This year’s winners were Ben Tyrel and Derek Hone with 46 points, in second place with 42 points were Jack Pallister and Lewis Knox.

Oliver Coward won the best drive off the first competition, and Jack Kerslake claimed the best approach to the 18th.

The juniors managed to win 7.5-4.5 at Parkstone on aggregate to qualify for the finals of the Dorset Junior Knockout, set to be held on Thursday at Canford.

Sean Dimmick and Sam Trott won the vital points with 6&5 and 6&4 victories respectively, this followed a great week for the juniors as they won the Colin Chataway Trophy at Dudsbury, where two teams were entered, the second team finished joint runners-up.

Overall winner: 1 G Carter, 2 J Hale, 3 A Roberts

Denis George also made a hole-in-one on the eighth.
