BRIDPORT secured a well-earned point at unbeaten Brislington and made it back-to-back clean sheets in the process.

The Bees followed their midweek home win over Odd Down with another defensive display that pleased boss Trevor Senior no end.

Senior was also delighted with the performance of keeper Ash-ley Weeks, who has come in to the Bridport side to replace Sam Filkins.

And, if anything, Senior was slightly disappointed a point was all that Bridport brought back from Brislington, with some decent chances not quite finding the target.

“I’m happy enough with the point,” he told Echosport. “I’m a little disappointed we didn’t get all three, but I would have taken a point before the game.

“They are unbeaten this season so it was pleasing to get another clean sheet, and that’s two on the trot now.

“The last two games we’ve played with Chris Senior and Ryan Dovell as defensive holding midfielders and that has worked well. My assistant Mark Carter was a defender and his knowledge is coming in very handy.”

On Weeks, he added: “Ashley Weeks did very well commanding his area and he dealt with everything he had to deal with.

“He made one very good save from a corner where he clawed the ball back when it looked like it was going in.”

Bridport probably edged the first half in terms of chances.

Tom Richardson had a couple of headers on goal, one which hit the bar and just eluded Chris Senior as it rebounded off the woodwork.

Dovell also went close with a header, as did second-half substitute Sean Stewart, who was on for Richardson.

After Weeks had pulled off that super stop at the other end, only a last-ditch block by a Brislington defender stopped Adam Symes breaking the deadlock.

The Bees will look to continue their good form when they host Willand Rovers at St Mary’s Field on Tuesday (7.45pm).

Bees: Weeks, Filkins, Condliffe, Clarke, Senior (Rh Hayter 81), Ry Hayter, A Symes, Wise, Richardson (Stewart 65), Dovell, Morley (Hailu 86)
