SHERBORNE TOWN RES 2 WEYMOUTH RES 6

ELECTRIC was a term that Weymouth Reserves’ chief Jake Richmond used to describe his side’s performance for the majority of their 6-2 demolition of Sherborne Town Reserves.

The Terras carved their hosts open at will for the opening 45 minutes and looked like scoring almost every time they went forward.

With first-half goals falling to Dan Pidgely, Sam Nichols, Conor Jevon and Luke Winsper, the game was virtually ended as a contest just past the half-hour mark. “We were electric at times. In the first half we were absolutely brilliant,” Richmond told Echo-sport.

“It was frightening, their keeper has pulled off three or four excellent saves as well.”

Sean Zima and substitute Josh Tennant joined the party by adding their names to the score- sheet in the second period, and although Richmond was frustrated with the fact his side switched off to concede twice in the second half, he believes the margin of victory could have been a lot more.

He added: “We should have won by nine or 10, we gave away two sloppy goals at 5-0 up which was disappointing but the first 45 minutes was as good as we have played in at least a season and a half.

“Overall the performance was dominant for 80 minutes against a team that has had a really good start to the season.”

But with his side’s convincing win, the reserves’ boss is keen to make sure his squad doesn’t become too complacent.

He added: “We can’t get carried away by one result but each game we are getting better and better.

“We have still not quite there yet, we switched off a couple of times in the game and against the top sides you can’t afford to do that.”
