THE South West Dorset League is re-launching their popular Back to Netball project for the women of Weymouth and Portland.
The scheme is back after having a break during August and is welcoming new and returning players, of all ages and abilities, to go and play netball on a weekly basis.
The main aim of Back to Netball is to give women a taste of the game, whether they are rediscovering their skills or learning a completely new sport.
The programme, governed by England Netball, will cover all of the basics, with each session having a different skill focus in passing, shooting or defending. In addition the ladies will revise the rules and the positions of the game.
Back to Netball resumes on Wed-nesday, September 10 at Budmouth Sports Centre from 7pm until 8pm, the sessions are led by level two coaches Juliette Frampton and Ali Holmes, and costs £3.
The success of the previous scheme, which began in April and extended up until the end of July, proved to be a huge success.
Many of the ladies enjoyed becoming more active and recapturing their love for netball.
Seven even represented Wey-mouth in the Dorset Back to Netball Tournament.
The team enjoyed an action-packed morning, playing against experienced Back to Netball sides from all corners of the county.
From this team a few ladies have decided to join clubs in the league which is fantastic for the programme.
Senior development officer Laura Gardner was delighted with the news, she said: “I am very pleased that the ladies did so well in the tournament.
“It is important that all players participate in a level they feel comfortable with, some like to play in a non-competitive situation at Back to Netball and others relish a competitive match.
“It is good to be able to offer initiatives to suit different people.”
Coaches Juliette and Ali added: “We are both looking forward to coaching new and returning players the game of netball and we encourage everyone to come and give it a go.”
