WIMBORNE & COLEHILL THIRDS 39 (0pts) lost to BEAMINSTER 40-1 (20pts) by 9 wickets

IT took just two-and-a-half hours for Beaminster to dispose of a woeful Wimborne & Colehill Thirds side at King George V Playing Fields.

Beaminster ended their Division Two season with a bang, bowling out the visitors for a paltry 39.

And their day’s work was done when the 40 runs needed for victory were knocked off in only 5.1 overs.

Wimborne’s innings got off to the worst possible start as Ross Baker (3-10) bowled opener Barker for a duck with the score on nought.

Runs were hard to come by and all of the Beaminster bowlers were on top form.

As well as Baker, skipper Aidey Phillips took two wickets as Wimborne rarely scored more than one run per over.

After 19 overs the score had crawled along to 28-6, then change bowlers Jack Walkett (2-7) and Will Everitt (3-4) bowled well to dismiss Wimborne for 39 in 27.1 overs.

The Beaminster reply was dominated by Hugh Rathbone who hit an aggressive 24 not out including five boundar- ies.

Only one wicket was lost, Justin Gurd for 11, as Beaminster cruised to a fourth successive victory to finish the season sixth out of the nine clubs.
