SAM Pascoe and Glen Truswell, who are members of Castle Cove Sailing Club (CCSC), dominated the National Championship for the International 14 fleet, which took place in Weymouth last week.

Earlier in the year, the duo took the European Championship title in Germany.

There were some very good sailing conditions for the competition with stiff winds and wavy conditions which resulted in the racing taking place within the harbour walls.

The competition was fierce and, in the end, it was the final race on the Sunday that decided the winners. Pascoe and Trus-well were on equal eight points with Archie Massey and Harvey Hilary.

It was bad luck for the latter that their halyard parted and they had to retire, which meant that Pascoe and Truswell could power through to win.

Throughout the fleet, places were strongly contested and talented local sailor Sam Barker from CCSC put in some great performances with his partner Josh O’Brien and finished the week in very respectable 10th place.
