CHICKERELL UNITED 2 HOLT UNITED 0

TWO goals from frontman Warren White ensured Chickerell rocketed to the top of the Dorset Senior League on goal difference after they cruised past Holt United at the Stalls.

White struck either side of the interval to ensure the Chickens made it two wins out of two in the league so far, and in conquering an outfit that were in the Dorset Premier League last term, boss Steve Coward was delighted with his players’ performance.

He told Echosport: “I am absolutely chuffed, there is a really good buzz at the club now.

“Holt was our tester to see where we are and what we are about and we were superb for 90 minutes.

“That was the one the lads wanted to go out and win, it was a bit scrappy in the middle of the park but there are periods where you have to battle rather than play good football, which we did.

“I don’t think there will be many teams that are going to pick up points from Holt, they are a very good side.”

Coward claimed the victory sent out a message from his troops to the rest of the division, that they are eager to grasp success this term.

He added: “The most pleasing thing is that I have a squad of players that are as keen as me to be successful this year.

“They go out there and they give it everything for 90 minutes and it’s an absolute pleasure to work with.”
