WEYMOUTH youngsters shone on home waters during the opening day of the FIPS-M World Boat Championships today.
Both Ryan Casey, who crews on Supernova, and Jordan Davis, who is a weekend crew on Al’s Spirit, put in stellar performances to win their individual boats in the under-21 category.
Weymouth crewman for Top Cat, Aaron Comben, also performed well to finish a creditable second on his boat for the home nation.
England team manager Neil Bryant told Echosport: “To see all five of the under-21 team come in and enjoy their first day makes all the work and effort they have put in worthwhile.”
In the senior competition, Portsmouth’s Cliff Newbold won his boat to put England in a strong position after day one.
