LAND Registry continue to lead the way in Division One of the Weymouth & District League with convincing performances against both Wyke M and YMCA.

John Ryan of Wyke M forged out a win against Andy Millar and took legs off both Mark Heasman and Steve Jackson, but ultimately Land Registry were too strong.

YMCA fared better with John Cox, Ken Brake and Andy Webb all taking legs in their singles matches and Cox edged out Neil Hardisty in a tight five- setter. Cox then partnered Brake to get the better of Hardisty again in the closing doubles.

Wyke A and Budmouth A also continued their 100 per cent starts to the season.

Ben Graham firstly won all three of his matches for Budmouth A, dropping only one leg, before heading to Preston on the same night to win all three of his matches, this time without dropping a single leg for Bud-mouth B.

Springfield B drew with Preston C in the second week and beat newly- promoted Colliton C this week to top Division Two. Chris Whitefield tops their averages with only Graham above him in the division standings.

Colliton C are still seeking their first win in their new division but will be encouraged by a good fight against Preston C.

Six of the 10 matches went to four or five legs with all team members, Peter Loakes, Andy Ray and Val Bundy all winning one of their three matches as well as the doubles. Budmouth C beat Preston B to maintain an unbeaten start.

The youngsters at All Saints are blazing the trail in Division Three having won all three of their opening games, including a tight 23-18 victory over Budmouth D in front of a good crowd during the All Saints’ Year Six open evening.

Wyke D also remain unbeaten and look strong having dropped just one match and eight legs in their opening two games, Malcolm Smith of Preston D inflicted that one def- eat.

New team STEPS are yet to record a win this season but have compet- ed well in their three matches so far and the inexperienced team will improve over the course of the season.
