YEOVIL TOWN 0 FLEETWOOD TOWN 1

YEOVIL boss Gary Johnson will attempt to sign a new striker before the emergency loan window shuts next week after watching his side draw a blank against Fleetwood.

The Glovers dominated the game but failed to take their chances and then saw Jeff Hughes head in a late winner for the visitors.

Defeat dropped Yeovil to the bottom of League One, three points adrift of safety.

The Glovers are now without a win in their last eight league games.

Striker Jordy Hiwula was guilty of missing a hat-trick of chances, while midfielder James Berrett also wasted a clear opportunity.

And Johnson will now look to bring in a new striker to boost his mis-firing frontline as his side are set to fight for League One survival.

He said: “We missed a lot of chances again today and that’s been the story of our season. We’ve given players the benefit of the doubt but we’ve now got to start looking elsewhere.

“We can’t afford to leave it any later now, we need to start scoring more goals. We had enough chances to win today which is frustrating.

“Our build up play was good and our overall football was good but the game is won and lost in the penalty area and that was our downfall.

“We’ve already got six loan players so I may have to negotiate to send someone back to their club and see where we can get goals from.

“Loans can be difficult to bring in and we’ll have a look at what’s available but we need to find a way to score more goals.”

Yeovil missed an early chance when Ajay Leitch-Smith headed wide and also came close through both Ben Nugent and Jordan Clarke.

But it was Hiwula who had the best opportunities, being denied by goalkeeper Chris Maxwell in the first half before twice being let down by poor control after the break.
