WEYMOUTH & Portland will be looking to get back on track in Dorset & Wilts Two South when they head to Wimborne Thirds in search of a bonus-point win.

A defeat to Swanage & Wareham Seconds last time out has left the Monmouth Avenue club languishing in fifth spot in the league standings, 16 points off the pace set by leaders East Dorset.

But the Minstermen find themselves in a much more precarious position than Weymouth & Port-land skipper Kevin Leatham’s side.

Wimborne have only managed one win and have conceded more than 30 points per game on average so far this season.

But Leatham won’t be taking tomorrow’s opposition lightly, and insists his side need to rally and be ruthless in their encounters before the league’s Christmas break.

He told Echosport: “We can’t go there and take it for granted because they are a big club and you never know who is going to turn up for them as well.

“A few people could come out the woodwork so we are going to go there taking it very seriously and try to get back to winning ways.

“If we go into it with the same intensity that we finished the game with against Swans then we should be alright.

“We need to really concentrate now up until Christmas and put ourselves in a good position.”

However, the visitors will be without fly-half Bryn Llewellyn who is unavailable.

Bridport are another side smarting from a defeat last weekend – the Blues were heavily beaten by Bournemouth Thirds in their first match since the departure of Roger Clark.

Wayne Munro, now acting as Bridport’s interim head coach, is planning to give youth a chance again tomorrow when his men host Puddletown.

Despite the 55-7 reverse to Bournemouth, Munro was pleased with the way some of the club’s youngsters performed after stepping up from the Colts.

He said: “Puddletown are a hard team and we’ll have to pull out all the stops to beat them. They are very strong in the pack but maybe not as quick as us out wide.

“We are going to field a couple of Colts and try and play a fast and expansive game.”

Also in Two South, Dorchester Seconds visit rock bottom North Dorset Thirds.

Although North Dorset sit at the foot of the table they tend to keep their best performances for when they play Dorchester.

County town captain Tom Evans is under no illusion as to the task ahead but is confident his team can come away with a win.

Meanwhile, Dorchester’s first-team have home advantage for their showdown with struggling Supermarine in Southern Counties South.

And head coach Martyn Peel is going to be after a positive reaction to last week’s defeat to North Dorset, a game he feels they should have won.

“The lads were extremely disappointed afterwards as they knew what they had let slip by,” he said.

“Although Supermarine are bottom we are expecting a tough game, however, we know how well we can play when we focus and I will be demanding a full 80-minute disciplined performance.”

Table-toppers Swanage & Wareham are away to third-placed Walcot in the division’s game of the day.

It has been a disastrous start to the season for Weymouth & Portland Seconds in Three South. They have lost all eight of their fixtures to date and can expect another tough test tomorrow when they go to Fordingbridge Seconds.

In Dorset & Wilts Four, Wey-mouth & Portland Thirds, languishing at the foot of the table, make the trip to Swanage & Wareham Fourths.

* Swanage & Wareham will face Salisbury in the Dorset & Wilts Cup final at Warminster on Saturday, November 29 (ko 2pm).
