ODD DOWN (BATH) 3 BRIDPORT 1

BEES’ boss Trevor Senior had no qualms over his team’s 3-1 defeat at Odd Down (Bath), on Saturday, and admitted the hosts were the better team on the day.

A strike from Tom Richardson put Bridport ahead after 10 minutes at the Lew Hill Memorial Ground, following good work from strike partner Warren Byerley.

But the hosts levelled things up before the break with a move that Senior believed was questionably offside.

And although Bridport man-aged to fashion a couple of chances themselves after the break, the Bees were powerless to stop Odd Down adding two second-half goals to their tally, and claiming all three points.

“I think on the day we had no qualms really, they were the better side,” Senior said.

“They were sharper than us all over.

“Talking to their management team afterwards, they said that was the best they had played for many a week.

“They did their homework on us after being told by Bristol Manor Farm that we were the best side they had played this season.

“When balls came into their box they cleared them and looked strong on the break, they were strong going forward.”

On the home side’s first goal, Senior added: “For me it was a good yard offside. The lad got played through, Shane Evans and Ryan Hayter stepped up, and the linesman got it wrong in my opinion.

“But we came in at half-time and all agreed that if we were in their dressing room, we would have been disappointed if we hadn’t come in level, or even in front.”

The defeat means the Bees occupy seventh place in the Toolstation Western League Premier Division at Christmas, they host 10th placed Street at St Mary’s Field on Boxing Day (noon).
