JASON Matthews has not ruled out bringing in another fresh face to the Terras’ ranks this week following his side’s disappointing defeat against Chippenham Town.

The Terras were hit by a late sucker-punch by their own former striker Lee Phillips on Saturday, as his 89th minute header condemned Weymouth to a 1-0 defeat at the Bob Lucas Stadium, their third loss in four league games.

Matthews felt his side lacked their usual quality throughout the encounter, and could look to rectify that by bringing someone else in before tomorrow’s trip to Hunger-ford Town.

He told Echosport: “I felt we lacked a little bit of desire in the first 15 minutes again and perhaps it is now a case of me going out for a couple of experienced players that will see us through.

“I think there might be a case where I might bring someone in for Tuesday, just to give it a freshening up.

“We are a very young side and we have done well so far, the chairman is backing me 100 per cent and he said I could bring someone in, now might be the time to do it.”

Commenting on the performance as a whole, the Weymouth chief added: “I am disappointed. We didn’t get our quality going at all and Chippenham made us pay for it.

“I felt it’s the first time this season that we have played a team that have come to make it awkward for us and we haven’t dealt with it, and we have been punished late on.

“We had a lot of two-on-ones out wide and we didn’t get it to the second man, which for me is disappointing.

“Maybe in hindsight I should have taken a 0-0 draw but I looked to change it to win the game and it didn’t go for us.

“We go to another tough place tomorrow in Hungerford and we need another reaction, but we are far from rolling over just yet.”
