TEENAGER Bradley Tarbuck is set to make his Magpies’ debut at Hungerford Town tomorrow (3pm) after joining from League Two side Portsmouth last night.

Tarbuck made his league debut for the Fratton Park outfit in November and is the sort of player Dorchester need, according to county town player-manager Mark Jermyn.

The result aside, Magpies’ chief Jermyn was happy with how his side played during their 2-1 defeat to Truro last Saturday.

However, he did feel that the team lacked an end product when going forward – but that is where he hopes Tarbuck’s qualities can help.

“We got into the box a lot last Saturday but there was no end product, that’s why we had so many corners and not enough goals,” said Jermyn.

“I think we need more of a goal threat and that is where Bradley comes in.

“Hopefully, as a forward or a winger, he can give us that little bit extra in the final third of the pitch.

“He has had a good couple of seasons and recently been on loan at Dartford.

“He had his first pro contract last year and Portsmouth want to get him playing more men’s football.

“I’ve told Andy Awford we will look after him but we also need to utilise him as well.

“I think it’s a good deal for both clubs and Andy has been really supportive towards Dorchester.”

The 19-year-old’s arrival on a one-month loan deal comes after the departure of striker Jack Odam to Chippenham Town.

And Tarbuck couldn’t have asked for a much tougher introduction to life in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier Division.

Hungerford are on a superb run of form having won eight and drawn four of their last dozen games, a sequence of results that has taken them up to fifth place in the table.

And tomorrow will see them going for a Ridgeway double in less than a week following a 2-0 defeat of the Terras at the War Memorial Ground on Tuesday night.

But Jermyn is in a confident mood after the Magpies’ display in Cornwall.

“We’ve gone through the individual errors we made against Truro and hopefully we can rectify those,” added Jermyn.

“We are going to look at what we did well and try to do the same tomorrow.

“Individually and collectively there were bits of our play that were very good.”
