DEFENDER Jamie Laird knows the Terras’ fans will be a 12th man for the club today, as they bid to get back to winning ways at home to Histon (3pm).

Laird was overwhelmed by the travelling Weymouth support during Tues-day night’s defeat at Hungerford Town, even when they trailed 2-0 during the second period.

“They don’t get many fans at Hungerford and it was literally like a home match,” he told Echosport.

“Our fans were singing their hearts out all night, especially being 1-0 and 2-0 down, they were brilliant for us.

“It is a massive help with the fans, they stick with us, and hopefully we can deliver for them by reaching the play-offs or winning the league.”

And despite a fourth reverse in five league outings, the former Weston-super-Mare skipper is confident the Terras can turn the corner and produce a much-needed victory against the Stutes this afternoon.

He added: “I think we took a lot of positives even though we lost on Tues-day, it was a good performance, we were just a little bit unlucky.

“There is still a lot of belief in the squad that we are still good enough to be up there. The league doesn’t lie and there are plenty of games to go as well.

“Nobody is down and we are all up to put a performance in today and hopefully make a good run towards the end of the season.”
