SKIPPER Stewart Yetton believes Weymouth can break the shackles and play with freedom over their last 11 league games, as he is set to lead his troops into battle at Chesham United this afternoon (3pm).

The Terras’ talisman, who also revealed that he has been struggling with an ankle problem over the last couple of weeks, insists his side need to learn from defeats to title rivals Poole and Corby, and build on last weekend’s victory over Cirencester Town.

He told Echosport: “In our minds we are looking to get as many points as we can and be in the best possible position, wherever that may be, but realistically I think the pressure is off us now. Maybe we can break the shackles off a little bit rather than being so nervy, and express ourselves.

“The way I look at it we just have to take it game by game. There will be lots of twists and turns but I expect Poole to win it from where they are. Without trying to play mind games, that is my opinion.

“They played well against us and so did Corby, we are under no illusions that in both those games we got taught a bit of a lesson and we need to learn fast.

"When we play them at home we should show them what we are all about.

“I really don’t feel that we are under any pressure now, maybe we put too much pressure on ourselves a month ago and some of the lads struggled being in that position.

“If Poole do have a little wobble though, the pressure is back on us as well. At the moment it might make us play with a bit more freedom.”

Today’s encounter with the Generals marks the start of four away fixtures Weymouth face in five games, and the captain has called for everyone in the team to stand up and be counted.

“It’s been very interesting in training, some of the lads are very vocal who aren’t so vocal on a Saturday,” he added.

"It’s all about trying to get some of those younger lads that are vocal in training to take that confidence into a game.”
