BOSS Mark Jermyn has issued a clear warning to his players – start delivering better performances now or you could be heading for the exit door at Dorchester Town.

The Magpies’ player-manager was hugely disappointed with the way his side “chucked away” the chance of victory against Frome on Saturday.

And Jermyn wasn’t pulling any punches after the Somerset outfit equalised late on to claim a 1-1 draw.

“Our performance levels haven’t been what they were when I came in and the intensity is lacking,” he said. “And there are a couple of players who need to pull their finger out.

“I look around the changing room and that’s not a mid-table team, that’s a top-five team at least. There’s no getting away from that and there is very little room for players to hide now.

“I’ve made them aware that we are bringing certain people in and having a look at them for next season.

"And if players aren’t doing it now then in my mind they’re not going to do it next season either.

“If they don’t want to do it now then they won’t be here, it’s as simple as that.”

He went on to add: “Football is pretty cut-throat and you have to be on it more times than not.

"Over the last couple of weeks certain individuals haven’t performed as well as they did when I started.

“We’re everything up until the final third and we can’t be reliant on the same players to perform week in, week out.

“It’s not a massive issue at the moment because we are drifting towards safety, it’s just frustrating because we should be out of the thick of it and looking to climb the table. We can’t have these performances next season, we need to be stronger.”

Jermyn was pleased to see Ashley Nicholls back in a Dorchester shirt after the Maidenhead United midfielder rejoined his former club on a dual registration.

And the Magpies’ chief revealed that he is hoping to make the deal a permanent one for next season.
