BRIDPORT 0 BRADFORD TOWN 3

TREVOR Senior saw his side capitulate at the death at St Mary’s Field, as three goals in the latter stages meant high-flying Bradford Town emerged victorious.

The visitors, who now lie third in the division after their triumph against the Bees, came close to opening the scoring on 10 minutes when Sam Jordan latched on to a long ball forward only to see his shot ricochet off a post.

Bridport then had opportunities to break the deadlock through striker Tom Richardson’s header and Matt Morley – who had tormented the away side down the right-hand side.

“To be fair, I was pleased how we played in the first half,” Senior said. “I thought we looked good and we just about shaded it.”

Bridport keeper Ashley Weeks was called into action on a number of occasions during the second period to thwart Bradford, including pulling off two saves within in quick succession to deny Twaine Plummer with 10 minutes to go.

But on 83 minutes, the former Portland United keeper was powerless to prevent Jordan bagging the opening goal, as his shot proved too hot for the keeper to handle.

The Bees were then hit on the counter and Plummer fed Jordan to notch his second of the afternoon and the striker then turned provider for Dexter Chipeni to compound Bridport’s misery with virtually the last kick of the game, and stretch their run without a win to 10 games.

Senior, whose side haven’t scored in four games, told Echosport: “Three-nil looks like a hammering but we weren’t as bad as the score suggests.

“Having said that, Ashley Weeks picked up man-of-the-match, he made some good saves. I felt sorry for him really because he had a good game.

“They weren’t world beaters but they are third in the league now, you do have to give them a bit of credit. They are playing with a bit of confidence at the moment and we are not. In my own mind I thought if we could have got a point it would have been big for us.”

On a positive note for the Bees, they welcomed back Jamie Symes, who made his return from the bench after the head injury he suffered a few weeks ago.
