TERRAS’ full-back Jamie West believes he was extremely fortunate to escape a major knee injury in Weymouth Reserves’ League Cup semi-final against Hamworthy Recreation.

The former AFC Bournemouth youngster, who joined the club last summer, admitted he “thought the worst” when he left the pitch on a stretcher at the Bob Lucas Stadium on Saturday.

“It was a bad tackle and I got very lucky,” he told Echosport.

“It’s a team game and when you are stretchered off you are the centre of attention. Even though you are in lots of pain it’s actually a bit embarrassing.

“At first I thought the worst to be honest and I was still thinking the worst when I got stretchered off.

“I was just thinking what I was going to do with work and my football as well if something major had happened.

“Luckily the injury isn’t as bad as first expected.

“I got away with it and I’m hoping to be alright for the weekend.”

As well as representing the Terras’ reserves and first-team this term, West, pictured, has also turned out for Wessex League side Hamworthy United in a bid to keep his sharpness.

He added: “I signed on a dual registration just to get some game time under my belt. I am enjoying it and it’s the same with the reserves, whenever I play under Jake (Richmond) I really enjoy it.”
