CUP clincher Jordan Copp believes the Terras still have enough to seal a play-off spot and he will be doing all he can to help the cause if selected against Corby Town at the Bob Lucas Stadium this afternoon (3pm).

The former Plymouth Argyle youngster proved the hero in Tuesday’s Dorset Senior Cup triumph over Dorchester Town when he slotted home a second half penalty, but as much as that moment gave him a buzz, he is entirely focused on today’s task at hand.

“Don’t get me wrong, winning a cup was brilliant but we want to make sure that we do it today,” he told Echosport.

“For us it’s the big one and we want to be in those play-offs, it’s massive.

“We need to make sure that we do it and the boys are raring to go, at training everyone was buzzing around and wanted the game there and then. I am just looking forward to it really, I’m excited.

“We need to nullify their danger men, their wingers are very quick and if we can control them we should have more than enough to beat them at home.

“I had a chat with a few people at training and if I’m selected or Neil Martin, with Ash Wells on the other side if he’s fit, hopefully we will be able to mark them out of the game whatever team Jase puts out.

“These games literally come down to three 90-minute cup finals and if we can perform like we can we will get something out of it and our season will last a little bit longer.”

The 21-year-old will be available for today’s encounter and Weymouth’s crunch clash with Dorset rivals Poole Town on Tuesday but will miss the final scheduled league outing at Biggleswade due to the suspension he picked up when he was sent off for two yellow cards at Banbury last Saturday.

Speaking about that incident, he added: “It was stupid from me really.

“We were at a game that we felt we really needed to win and we were losing. It was silly and a bit petulant from me to be honest.

“I will learn from it and hopefully I won’t have to go through it again."
