STEVE Coward believes Chickerell United must perform to the best of their ability to claim the Dorset Senior Trophy at the County Ground tonight (7.45pm), but insists anything can happen in a cup final.

The Chickerell chief, whose side ply their trade a league below Dorset Premier League opponents Bridport Reserves, is excited at the prospect of claiming silverware.

“I have been coaching for around 15 years and to get something out of it would be a good thing for me, as well as the players,” he said.

“I am looking forward to it as much as they are.

“Obviously we are going into it as the underdogs. They are a DPL side who have just beaten Merley Cobham Sports.

“But if we go out there with the attitude of wanting to win it more than them then I don’t see why we can’t get something out of it.

“It’s a cup final and anything can happen.”
