REDLANDS FC is celebrating after securing a headline sponsor for their inaugural girls’ football festival, which will be held at Redlands Community Sports Hub on Saturday, June 20.

The event will see five teams participating in each of the under-8, 10, 12, 14 and 16 age groups, meaning nearly 250 girls will be involved, with the tournament taking on a FIFA Women’s World Cup theme.

And the host club has now secured backing from the Jurassic Rocks music festival.

Redlands FC chairman Tim Davis said: “We are indebted to Glenn Chadwick and Sandra Allen, the promoters and organisers of the Jurassic Rocks music festival, for their fantastic support, without which we would not be able to run our own event.

“It is great for Redlands FC to secure new sponsors and we are delighted with having Glenn and his team involved.”

Nathan Wood, Redlands FC Girls’ Football Festival organiser, added: “I have known Glenn since being involved with Jurassic Rocks last year.

“It is great to see one great community event supporting another and an excellent way to promote both events to a wider audience.”

Meanwhile, speaking on behalf of Jurassic Rocks, Chadwick said: “We’re really pleased to be in a position to support Redlands FC Girls in creating a new event to promote girls’ football, just as we did last year creating Jurassic Rocks to promote Portland and live music.

“We are really looking forward to both events this summer.”

Redlands FC are also looking for three more trophy sponsors and five pitch sponsors for the festival.

Intersport Tony Pryce Weymouth and Tuck by Truck are companies that will also have a presence with their own stalls on the day.

  • Redlands FC is the only football club with girls’ teams in every age group of the Dorset Girls’ League.

They are keen to encourage more girls to play football in the area, especially those currently in school Years Two, Three, Four and Five. The club’s under-8 and 10 teams train at the swimming pool end of the Marsh on a Monday evening between 6pm and 7pm.
