KIERON Womble will try to rally his Weymouth troops this week as they prepare for a daunting trip to Parley on the back of a fourth successive reverse.

The Seasiders are now 13 points adrift at the foot of the Dorset Premier League following a heavy home defeat last Saturday.

Weymouth felt the full force of an unbeaten century from Broadstone’s Aslan Abbas at Redlands, before the hosts were bowled out for 115.

Assessing where things went wrong for the home side, Womble told Echosport: “It was a tough game on the day. I lost the toss and that seems to be a theme at the moment.

“We gave it a go with the ball and had them under pressure at 31-4.

“We then tried to go for the jugular and get the fifth wicket, but they had two batsmen who played really well.

“I never imagined their lad would get to 100. He played everything through the leg side and although we tried our best to get him out we just couldn’t.

“We made a good start with the bat but then lost a few wickets and our innings just petered out.”

He added: “We are trying to get that first win but it’s not going to be easy against Parley.

“We just have to put in a strong performance with the bat and ball.

“Our problem at the moment is that we have a few players who are in and out of the side.”
