DORCHESTER TOWN RES 1 AFC TOTTON RES 3

DORCHESTER Town’s first game under new boss Simon Browne ended in defeat against AFC Totton at the Avenue.

Fielding a side featuring the likes of Mark Irvine and Jason Brookes, the Magpies netted through Luke Woodland in the second half to reduce the visitors’ lead to 2-1.

But Totton substitute Jack Wilson scored just before the end to seal three points for his side.

Matthew Brewer had earlier netted either side of the break to put the Hampshire team in command.

“It was a little bit disappointing to get off to a start like that,” said Magpies manager Browne.

“But Totton are going to be one of the better sides in the league and it was a good test for us.

“We didn’t start the game too well but, having said that, we could have taken the lead before they scored.

“We were a little bit naive at the back and our inexperience showed with the goals we conceded.

“But we were much better in the second half than the first and Luke Woodland scored to get it back to 2-1.

“Then we had a defensive lapse about 30 seconds from the end and I thought 3-1 flattered them a little bit.”

Dorchester's starting line-up included first-team squad players Mark Irvine, Jason Brookes and Sam Old, with Brookes captaining the Magpies.

Browne's men go to Wimborne next Wednesday (7.45pm).

Magpies: Hibbs, Diaz (Ross), Wellman, Hills, Taylor, Parsons (Hurlstone), Old, Irvine, Brookes, Woodland. Subs not used: Pope, Lucas, Tennant.
