DORCHESTER Town head into today’s first Ridgeway derby of the season against Weymouth with player-manager Mark Jermyn his team has the potential to “blow anybody away” in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier Division.

The Magpies lost all four meetings with their Dorset rivals last term but Jermyn reckons he now has a stronger squad at his disposal.

This afternoon’s derby at the Avenue (3pm) is a second for Jermyn in charge of Dorchester, but his first in the league.

And despite his side losing 3-1 at leaders Chippenham on Saturday, he is pumped up for the visit of the Terras.

“It was frustrating to come away with a defeat at Chippenham when we did so well in the early stages of the game,” he said. “But we are still playing well at the end of the day.

“I’m more than happy going into the Weymouth game because the team are playing well at the moment.

“They just need to make sure collectively, and as a group, they work hard, and when they do that they can blow anybody away.

“We are very much looking forward to the game and hopefully we can get back to winning ways.”

He added: “I feel we have got a stronger squad this season than last season.

“We respect the fact Weymouth have got players of value but hopefully they will respect the fact we have got decent players as well.

“It’s a massive game.”
