WEYSPORTS Netball Club’s winter season campaign is underway in the South & West Dorset Netball League, with both teams notching wins and securing points in their opening games.

The club has secured sponsorship with Ayya, an Asian-inspired café bar in St Thomas Street, Weymouth, while Paul Cocks at Café Oasis has also agreed to sponsor the club for a second year.

And club coach Juliette Frampton is delighted to have so much backing.

She said: “I would like to thank Café Oasis and Ayya for their support. It is fantastic that the girls can play netball without the added costs.”

The club had a successful summer season, securing promotion back to division one with shooting starlet Eleanor Lake being awarded the player of the season accolade.

Centre court marvel Jane Snarey snatched the players’ player award and Jade Carroll received the clubwoman accolade for her efforts as treasurer and A team shooter.

Recruiting new players Nina Gould, Sam Swanson, Elaine Robertson and Back to Netball graduate Candice Barton means the club has grown to two teams once again.

“The girls have trained hard in preparation for the new season,”

added Frampton.

“The new players have gelled well and I am looking forward to the start of the season.”

Team captain and players’ player Snarey is hopeful ahead of the winter campaign.

She added: “I am very much looking forward to what the new season has to offer.

“We have a strong team so we are hoping to retain our division one status this season.”

The club are continuing their search for a centre court player and defender to join for the new season, which commenced last month.

WeySports have a fully qualified level two coach, who has first aid training and a DSB check, and trained safeguarding officer.

The club holds free taster sessions for new players on Tuesday evenings at Budmouth Courts from 7-8.30pm.
