HONOURS ended even in this season’s first showdown between Weymouth Sunday League title contenders Kings Arms and Dolphin at Redlands.

Kings Arms, the reigning league champions, and Dolphin, the team that finished third last term, battled out a 1-1 draw.

Jack Thompson struck first to give hosts Kings Arms a 1-0 half-time lead, but Sean Hawke secured a point for the visitors with an equaliser after the break.

Thompson’s team climb to third place in the table, level on points with Broadmayne but with a better goal difference, while Dolphin remain fifth.

As for Broadmayne, they were on the receiving end of an 8-0 thrashing by leaders Snookes Stags.

The Stags maintained their unblemished start to the season as Broadmayne lost for the first time this term.

Michael Stone (3), Phil Anderson (2), Carl McClements (2) and Will Clarke got the Stags' goals.

Famous Old Spa also kept up their 100% record thanks to a comfortable 7-1 win against Finns at Redlands.

League top scorer Chris Skinner was at his destructive best again with another four goals to add to his increasing tally.

Skinner has now netted a total of 20 times in his four games to date.

Matt Harvey, twice, and Kevin Paice, were also on target in the Spa’s fourth success from four.

Goals from new signing Ben Sibine (2) and Ayo Caxbe meant Junction Trojans emerged triumphant from the clash involving the league’s two bottom sides.

Jack Stone bagged a brace for The Alex but his goals were not enough to prevent the Trojans sealing their maiden win this term.

Elsewhere, there were six different scorers for Market House as they fought off the challenge of The Gloucester at the Marsh.

Michael Colebrooke, Sam Moors, Lee Scrivin, Tom Wilmore and substitutes Ricky Limm and Francis Parker-Stanley all got on the scoresheet for the home side.

Luke Moorley and Brad Vallance pulled goals back at the other end but The Gloucester had Daniel Sheppard sent off in a 6-2 reverse.

The league takes a break this weekend with five teams taking part in the first round of the Dorset Sunday Intermediate Cup.

At Redlands, Dolphin entertain Snookes Stags in an all-Weymouth Sunday League encounter, Finns and Kings Arms travel to Ferndown Wayfarers and Sturminster Rovers respectively, and Junction Trojans host Tower Park.
