WITH autumn officially here, the season of sailing for Chesil Sailability has drawn to a close.

It has been a tough season, with the weather causing many cancelled sessions, much to the frustration of sailors and volunteers alike.

A full winter programme of socials and training is being planned to ensure no one gets withdrawal symptoms.

The race team finished the year on a high with successes in the final competitions.

A team trip to Oxford saw Anya de Iongh and Tim Scarisbrick win the final Grand Prix event of the year in very light and variable conditions.

The performance in Oxford builds on their wins earlier in the season meaning that de Iongh and Scarisbrick finished in first place overall in the UK Grand Prix series, a great achievement.

Dick Foyle and Philip Hall had a frustrating weekend in Oxford with the light winds not suiting them.

The pair more than made up for it a few days later at a Traveller Trophy event in Frampton where they finished in joint third place.

On top of this, they took second place overall in the Western Traveller Series, another brilliant result.

On Wednesday this week, Foyle and Hall raced in the final Traveller Trophy event of the year at Frensham Sailability.

They secured third place in the overall national Traveller Trophy series, yet another fantastic performance from Team Chesil.

Chesil Sailability have had a great season on the water and are extremely grateful to all the support from the volunteers.

De Iongh said: “Thank you to all our volunteers who make it possible.”
