CHRIS Dillon is raring to get back into Dorchester Town side after a hugely frustrating start to the campaign.

Injuries have plagued the central defender since the squad returned for training in the summer.

First he was struck down by a knee problem which blighted his preparation for the new term and in recent weeks has been nursing a groin tear.

Speaking to Echosport about his current setback, he said: “I stretched for the ball in the game at Cambridge City and felt it go, and it hasn’t been right since then.

“I then played in the game at Chesham and had to come off after 70 minutes as I felt it again.

“It wasn’t right but has got a little better over the last few days.

“I’ve been seeing the Dorchester physio and she has been helping me a lot.

“She has given me a programme of exercises and stretches to do which definitely help.”

Dillon’s fitness is set to be assessed before the Magpies’ Red Insure Cup tie against Poole at the Avenue tomorrow night (7.45pm).

“A groin injury is hard to recover from as you can’t really rest it,” he added. “But I want to get back as soon as I can and do my best when I start playing again.

“It has been frustrating but the team's done superbly without me.

“Hopefully I’ll be able to get back in the starting line-up when I’m fully fit.”
