WILLIAM Fox-Pitt returned to the UK yesterday more than three weeks after a fall at the World Young Horse Championships in Le Lion-d’Angers, France left him with a serious head injury.
Sturminster Newton’s three-time Olympic medallist was on board his horse Reinstated when the accident occurred during the cross-country phase of the championships last month.
Having been treated at a French hospital, he will now continue his rehabilitation back in England.
An update on Fox-Pitt given by British Eventing said: “William continues to make really good progress from the head injury he suffered following a fall at Lion D’Angers on October 17.
“As a result he flew back to England yesterday and his rehabilitation will now continue here.
“His wife Alice says “his recovery is likely to take time, but he is up and about and improving day by day. We are exceptionally grateful for the huge amount of support we have received.”
“The family continue to ask for privacy as William recovers, and as a result official updates will be issued via the Fox-Pitt Eventing website periodically.”
