NATHAN Walker came in for yet more praise from the Dorchester Town hierarchy after scoring his side’s winner against Chesham United on Saturday.

Hailed by Magpies’ assistant-boss Nick Crittenden before the game, Walker received the acclaim of county town player-manager Mark Jermyn following his 62nd minute strike at the Avenue.

Chesham’s Joe Gator had cancelled out Luke Holmes’ early strike before Walker swooped to seal a 2-1 success for the hosts.

“Nathan has stood out at Dorchester Town over the years,” said Jermyn. “He has been an excellent player for us.

“We’re not saying he’s the most technically gifted player in the world but week after week you know he is going to put a shift in.

“You know he is going to work hard and even when he’s not playing well he will try his best.

“That is to be admired, it really is, and he is one of the senior players in the squad now and a lot of people can learn from what Nathan has got.”

Jermyn described Chesham’s equaliser, which came from a mistake by home keeper Alan Walker-Harris, as “a little bit frustrating”.

However, he was pleased with how his side defended their lead in the second half.

“I don’t think we cleared our lines particularly well in the first half but in the second half I felt we defended brilliantly,” he added.
