DORCHESTER Town Ladies are “probably the strongest we have ever been at the moment” according to manager Darrin Chutter.

The county town side, who were crowned Dorset Women’s League champions for 2011/12, 2012/13 and 2013/14 currently boast a flawless record of eight wins out of eight in the league this season, as well as being in the last four of the county cup.

And as well as putting in some stellar performances, they have produced some remarkable results along the way this term.

Speaking about the ladies’ set-up, manager Chutter told Echosport: “We train 48 weeks of the year on a Wednesday night and there can be between 12 and 20 that turn up.

“I have a squad of around 22 to 25 at the moment.

“We have girls coming in at 15, they can’t play for us until they are 16 but we try to get them in a year early so they are used to playing with adults.

“We have got some girls who have been with the club for an awful long time and they are very loyal.

“I do sometimes push them to try and go and play for Yeovil or somewhere like that because they are good enough but they want to seem to want to stick with Dorchester to keep the club going.

“We have been through some tough periods over the years where we have nearly folded but we are probably the strongest we have ever been at the moment.”

This season, the Magpies’ ladies have been full of firepower. In league action, they have struck double figures in as many as three games so far.

That includes a 10-1 win over Blandford United Youth, a 16-1 triumph over Verwood Town and, most notably, a 27-0 thumping of Gillingham Town Ladies, in which striker Bex Narramore notched no fewer than 18 goals.

Commenting on Narramore, the ladies’ boss added: “I keep telling her she should be playing for a higher level team but I am glad she’s not! It’s a catch 22 really.

“She does probably get two thirds of the goals on the team and she will be missed if she was injured but we have some new girls coming in as well and we are always trying to help her out up front.

He added: “We are really going for it this year. Obviously after Portland took the title from us last year and we would like to get it back.

“They are a huge rival and they have some very good players there.

“On paper we are not necessarily the best team in the world but they are a good bunch of girls.

“They socialise outside of their football and they come from Swanage, Sturminster Newton, Weymouth, Dorchester and all over the place.

“It’s the social side as well because these girls are all best friends and that’s why, I think, when we do get players that come in we tend to keep them.

“I have coached a men’s team before but I have never known commitment like it. They are just really passionate and that’s what shows on a Sunday afternoon.”
