SPEEDSTER Mark Hoppé is celebrating after scooping two awards.

Hoppé was crowned Woolbridge Motor Club Car Trials champion at a presentation during the club’s annual general meeting at the Colliton Club in Dorchester.

The Sherborne resident, an operations manager by profession, also took his Citroen Saxo to second place in the Association of South Western Motor Clubs Car Trials series and for the second year in succession claimed the premier award in the Motor Sports Association Trials National Championship.

Having secured overall wins in several qualifying rounds, which required qualifying events in Kent, the Home Counties, the Midlands and North Wales, Hoppé was again crowned champion.

The spoils of victory were presented to him at the Annual Motor Sports Association’s Night of Champions in London where the British motor sporting elite gathered, including all of the 2015 champions such as Gordon Shedden from the high profile British Touring Car Championship as well as winners from drag racing, rallying and karting.

Hoppé received his award from motor sport legend, and recently made CBE, John Surtees.

Surtees is the only competitor to win world championships on a motorcycle, which he achieved on four occasions, and in a car in 1964 when he was driving for Enzo Ferrari.
