DORCHESTER 55 OAKMEADIANS 0

DORCHESTER will face Wimborne in the final of the County Cup following a routine win against Oakmeadians in the last four.

Zack Southall scored the first try for the county town side just a few minutes in, while Samson Marshall crossed for the second soon after.

Far from taking the wind out of Oakmeadians’ sails, it seemed to galvanise Dorchester and their defence remained resolute.

Their strong scrum gave them some respite but Dorchester seemed determined not to be dominated.

And, as a consequence, they ran in five more tries, two each for John Stewart and Frankie Read and another from Southall to give Dorchester a 43-0 half-time advantage.

The start of the second half saw personnel changes for both sides, with the remainder of the Dorchester bench being used.

One replacement, Taylor Moore, touched down in the corner after the restart, but the Oakmeadians’ heads didn’t drop and they kept fighting to the end, despite continuous pressure from a well-drilled Dorchester side.

The last score went to Jago Oak-Rhind after a storming run from the halfway line.

The final against Wimborne will be played at North Dorset RFC tomorrow (11am).
