NINETEEN members of the Dorset Pentathletes took part in the South West Modern Triathlon Championships at Leweston School.

The event is a swim and a combined shoot/run event with competitors getting points for each event depending on times.

The pellet competition in the girls’ under-11 age group saw Bea Southcombe take individual gold.

In the girls’ under-13 competition, Vivian Taylor finished second while Jessica Stevens crossed the line in fifth place. Meanwhile Rebecca Warland picked up a silver medal in the under-15 competition.

In the boys’ event, Finn Sanderson finished third in the under-13 race while the under-15 boys took its first clean sweep of the day with Harry O’Donughe first, Shem Martin second and Ollie Sanderson third.

There were more clean sweeps in the laser competition as Amy Northam, Elektra Covell and Sarah Carr filled the podium in the girls’ under-15 event. Libby Tolley, Sarah Wilson and Jessica Sutton did the same in the under-17 girls’ race.

There were also wins for Olivia Manson, Ryan Openshaw and Liam Openshaw.

On the same day as the SW Triathlon, six members of Dorset Pentathletes travelled to Milton Keynes to take part in the national pony club triathlon championships.

In the Minimus event, there were third-places for Jack Amor and Lily Amor. The junior boys’ event was won by George Case.
