NEW Bridport manager Adam Fricker has urged all existing Bees’ players to come to pre-season, despite the open invitation from the manager to players from his previous club Chard Town – but everyone will have to fight for their place.

Fricker wants all last year’s squad at pre-season as he looks to judge his new charges, however, he also knows that they will be judging him.

He said: “I’ve made contact with as many of the players as I could just to introduce myself and explain the way forward.

“We (Fricker and assistant-manager Jason Behan) want all of the existing squad to be at pre-season.

“As much as it is us looking at them, it is a case of them looking at us.

“The first two weeks of pre-season will be very important to us so we can show them what we’re all about.

“We will want to get players signed up, ideally, before the first two pre-season games.

“Everyone will have to fight for their place.”

“We want people who want to play for Bridport and if they don’t want to be here then so be it.”

Fricker says the talks with the squad were productive and they were all keen to come down to pre-season.

With what could be a bloated squad come the end of June when the players get back into training, Fricker will hope games against Tiverton Reserves (Wednesday, July 20), Illminster and Wincanton – dates to be confirmed – will provide a good test for his team.

Fricker also revealed that physiotherapist Lloyd Green will stay on with the Bees, however he is still yet to contact coach Mark Carter.
