WEYMOUTH-based bodybuilder Shamsul Ali is excited for his future, after scooping top prize in the USN Bodypower Classic at the NEC Arena in Birmingham.

Ali, who competes in the up to 178cm men’s physique category, has now qualified for the British Finals and IFBB (International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness) Diamond Cup, which are both set to take place in October, after sealing top prize in the Classic.

And the fitness star, who originally hails from Pembrokeshire, was shocked to seal top spot and also overcome professional Tom Coleman.

Reacting to the victory, he told Echosport: “Looking at the line-up, I genuinely thought if I got in the top three I would be over the moon.”

Ali is now set to have a month off before getting himself ready for a busy latter half of the year. He will look to possibly defend his UKBFF Welsh title in September, before going on to the British Finals.

The Weymouth resident, who is a holiday home salesman by trade, has also been staggered to see his online presence skyrocket in recent times.

He added: “I only created an Instagram account eight months ago and YouTube channel in the last four months and my following is growing very fast.

“I have people all over the world asking me for advice on what supplements I use and what exercises I do in order to create my physique.

“I also receive messages saying how I am helping motivate them.”
