THE Weymouth Golf Club Juniors have made a fantastic start to the season, securing success across the board in their respective categories.

Eleven-year-old Jacob Tidswell won the nett Junior Open at Queens Park with Sean Dimmick winning the gross.

Toby Trott won the Under-14s, Molly Kington won the girls’ section and then Weymouth took the junior team prize.

It was also in a knockout competition, held over held over two days at Ferndown Golf Club, that Tidswell won the Peter Alliss Trophy.

Three other members, Sam Trott, Jack Pallister and Alex Johnson all made it to the finals weekend.

Tidswell continued in magnificent form by hitting his first hole-in-one and winning the Longmore Shield for Weymouth against Lyme Regis.

Earlier this month the talented young golfer won the under-14s section at Parkstone.

At the South Western Counties Boys’ under-14 and under-16 competition, held at Honiton Golf Course, Billy Hathway, representing Dorset, fired a nett 69 and Alex Johnson also hit a nett 69.

In the under-14s section, Alex Johnson and Sam Trott came joint first in the nett competition and the former also won the Ian Clark Trophy on count back.

Their Dorset team came second overall.

n Elsewhere at the Weymouth course, former captain Dave Watson and ladies’ captain Jean Vile, raised the grand total of £1,773.00 for their joint charity, Cancer Research UK and presented a cheque to David Tattersall, the local representative for the cause.

In the men’s section Luke Bartlett was the winner of the Jubilee Cup on count back.

Tom Robson won the Jack Roberts Trophy with a gross of 68, beating his brother, Andy Robson, by two shots.

The weekend medal was won by Martin Pering.

In matchplay the Weymouth Hardy B Team recovered after a 4-1 defeat away at Queens Park, to record a 3-2 home win against Christchurch.
