DORSET skipper Chris Park is excited by the talent expressed by his young bowlers at present.

Despite falling to a 50-run reverse to Staffordshire in the MCCA Knockout Trophy semi-final on Sunday, the county captain was still pleased with the way leg-spinner Jem Warner and left-arm seamer Bradley Currie have performed this season.

Warner, who now plays his club cricket alongside Park at Bournemouth, recorded impressive figures of 3-30 and left-arm seamer Currie also claimed a wicket in the last-four clash to help the hosts restrict Staffordshire for 172 – before their batting collapsed in the second innings to send them to defeat.

Speaking about the talent in the Dorset attack, Park told Echosport: “For the young bowlers to be chipping in and producing right this second – the talent of Bradley Currie and Jem Warner is fantastic.

“Having played club cricket with Jem now, he is on top of his game at the moment.”

Commenting on Currie, he added: “People are now watching him and he’s been down to Somerset as well. Since he has broken through with us, Max (Waller) put the word in there that he is one to watch.

“He is bowling lovely but it’s the volume of overs and maintaining his fitness and freshness now.”

Both bowlers have been named in Dorset’s squad to take on Cornwall at Truro on Sunday (11am).
