WEYMOUTH cyclist Rebecca Raybould has become the Junior Scratch World Champion for Great Britain after holding off the chasing pack in Aigle, Switzerland.
The 18-year-old broke away from the peloton with 11 laps to go to take the win despite being chased down by Canadian rider Devaney Collier.
In the 38-lap race, Raybould had stuck with the pack for the opening exchanges of the event as no-one could make an attack stick.
However, with 11 laps to go the British rider chipped off the front on her own and rode strongly to take her first rainbow jersey.
Afterwards, she told British Cycling: "“It hasn't really sunk in yet!
"I was just going as hard as I could because I saw the Canadian coming at me very quickly on the last lap. I didn't know I had won it until a few metres to go.
"I thought 11 laps was a bit early but I thought I'd just take the chance and try and get there - I'm so happy!"

Elsewhere, Alex Jolliffe finished sixth in the team sprint and 18th in the one kilometer time trial with one day to go of the championships.
