IT HAS been a sensational summer for the Weymouth junior golfers.
Jacob Tidswell and Mark Rankin won the Bridport Junior Open with Rankin winning the gross competition and Tidswell winning the nett contest.
Two teams played in the Cyril Nash Memorial Trophy at Wareham and Billy Hathway, Tidswell, Jack Kerslake and Luke Brown, finished third.
Weymouth’s second team of Sam Trott, Toby Trott, Alex Johnston and Jack Pallister came a close second behind Dudsbury.
At Knighton Heath GC, in the County Boys’ Championship, Tidswell won the nett competition, with Sam Trott finishing fourth. Meanwhile, Sean Dimmick finished third in the scratch competition.
The juniors completed the day by finishing on the podium of the team competition.
The juniors continued their good form by winning 9.5-2.5 over two legs in the Dorset Knockout League and will play in the finals at Ferndown Forest GC later in the month.
Two junior teams from WGC played in the Colin Chataway Trophy at Came Down, the two teams came joint first with Team B winning on countback
These dynamic juniors have also made the final of the Longmore Shield which is a County Scratch Team Championship, where they will be playing at Parkstone GC against Parkstone
LADIES’ RESULTS
Overall winner for the Keir Putter was Julie Hacket with a score of 39 points and a handicap reduction to 23. Winner of the August Medal was Maria Woodham (25) 97 nett 72 going forward to play for the Smale Cup in October.
Winner of the Sergeants Cup was Mandy Hawkins (10) gross 78, nett 68. Runner-up Denise Duce (20). Both received a one-shot cut to their handicap
Winner of 26+ handicap Stableford was Di Timms (34) with 35 points resulting in a handicap reduction to 32. The runner-up was Kay Thomas (28) 31 points.
Ladies’ Stableford
Division One: Sue Stroudley (17) 37 points, Audrey Garnet (15) 35 points
Division Two: Pat Ray (23) 35 points, Carol Freeman (22) 32 points
Division Three: Val Watkins (36) 30 points, Sara Carpenter (36) 28 points
The ladies held their monthly Stableford this week with Division One being won by Dilys Grant (13) with 33 points, two ahead of Sharon Rand (19) in second place.
Division Two was won by Maria Woodham (24) with 35 points, three ahead of Carol Freeman (22), who finished second. Marion Huckle (32) won Division Three with 26 points, Maureen Cooper (31) taking second one shot back.
