A TRIO of bodybuilders have achieved “amazing” results, with all three finishing in the top two of their categories, writes Arthur Greenhalf.

Jacob Morgan, Bryony White and Carly Lawes from the New Body Fitness gym in Weymouth competed in Southern Championships Bodybuilding and Physique at the Dorchester Corn Exchange.

Morgan earned first place in Men’s Physique, White finished second in the Bikini competition and first and second place went to Lawes in Miss Toned and Miss Trained.

It was Morgan and White’s first competition.

Nick Bell, owner of New Body Fitness said that the results were “absolutely fantastic.

He said: “I’m so pleased for the guys, they’ve worked really hard. It takes a lot of dedication.

“They worked for months before the competition, building body muscle and dieting to get down their body fat.

“They wouldn’t be able to have chips. They’d be eating a lot of chicken, fish and protein.”

The competitors are planning on returning next year to defend their new titles.

They also have competitions in a fortnight in Cardiff.

The World Body Building Federation, which ran the competition, is also qualified for championships in Norway and is a pathway to the World Championships in Lithuania.

Lawes and White both work at the gym, and Bell added “Jacob is a member, so anyone can do it. We encourage all of our members to set goals. We sit down and distinguish their goals with them.”

Lawes added that it was “extremely difficult” and that she was “very pleased” with the results.

She said: “I trained seven days a week all year round. Obviously the last few weeks are the hardest. You have to put in a lot of extra sessions. It is a lifestyle.”

For anyone interested in bodybuilding, Bell said: “Start a regular fitness regime, start using your body for health and activating some muscle and get some advice for your diet.

“Cut down on sugar and bad fats, increase your protein intake. Here at the gym we offer complimentary services and programmes to advise people."
