DORCHESTER Town player-manager Mark Jermyn felt the 2-1 loss to arch rivals Weymouth was “tough to take” but felt his players stepped up their performance.
Loanee Tony Lee scored their only goal of the game from a free-kick as the Magpies suffered their first derby defeat in three fixtures against the Terras.
Jermyn said: “There was a shift in attitude and the players came out raring for the game.
“We had a lot of chances, so it is tough to take.
“I have massive respect for Jase (Jason Matthews) and he has a good team here.
“However, I fell that we should not have lost that game.
“We had the lion’s share but it just didn’t go for us.”
Billy Lowes’ 30-yard thunderbolt and ex-Magpie Charlie Davis’ free-kick were the difference in a scrappy derby.
Davis left the Avenue in the summer for Weymouth, but Jermyn was frustrated with the goal rather than the player.
He added: “We played with Charlie last year and we know he is capable of that.
“It doesn’t really matter who scored it, but I know Charlie will enjoy it, I know what he’s like. “Fair play to him, it was a good free-kick.”
He finished: “Our attitude was brilliant, from the first minute until the last. Unfortunately it didn’t fall for us.”
