GARY Bailey insists there will be no Bank Holiday hangover for Portland United tonight (7.45pm) as they look to bounce back at the new look County Ground against Hamworthy United.

The Blues were hit by a last-gasp Tim Sills winner in Saturday’s 2-1 defeat to Blackfield & Langley at Grove Corner – their first defeat in six league games since stepping back up to the Sydenhams Wessex Premier Division.

Speaking ahead of the clash with the Hammers, set to be played on the hosts’ new 3G surface, Bailey told Echosport: “We came away on the wrong side of the result on Saturday but the standard of play and the work ethic we showed needs to be replicated.

“I don’t expect there to be any hangover from Saturday. We will go to Hamworthy and our confidence won’t be dented.

“We will take the positives from Saturday, dust ourselves down and set up to go again.”

Tom Richardson and Max Buckler are set to come back into the Blues’ squad but there are injury doubts over Chris Clarke and goalkeeper Sean Lillington.

Bailey added: “It’s probably a good time to go there and play them on it (the 3G pitch) to be honest. In a few months’ time, when they have played on it a lot and trained on it, it will give them an advantage over the teams that only play on it every now and again.

“They have some good players and will be a decent side, we are expecting a tough test.”
