BALTI SPORTS 4

CRANBORNE 2

MARCO Nott was left feeling frustrated despite his “wasteful” Balti Sports side winning 4-2 against Dorset Premier League’s bottom club Cranborne.

Their opponents, who lost 20-0 at the hands of Westland Sports last time out, took a shock lead early on through Adam Long.

But Balti hit back with an equaliser from Danny Andrews in the 35th minute before Shane Lock added a second goal for the hosts two minutes after the break.

Ethan Devaney added a third before the visitors scored their second of the game to keep Nott’s nerves on edge.

However, Charlie Kenderdine sealed the game with 15 minutes to play.

Speaking to Echosport after the game, Nott said: “We didn’t play very well at all.

“We were incredibly wasteful and we missed countless one-on-ones.

“After our third goal we never looked in danger, but we took our foot off the gas.

“We need to be better.”

Balti Sports went into the game with confidence high after their 6-1 win over Dorchester Sports last time out.

However, Cranborne, looking to prove a point, came out to deny their opponents chances.

That tactic proved futile as the home side created numerous chances in the opening exchanges, but were unable to be as clinical as they had been against Dorchester.

Instead it was the visitors who took the lead, shocking everyone at Weymouth College.

Long’s effort was well struck and gave Andy Nott no chance in the Balti goal.

The opener sprung Balti into life. After creating more chances, Andrews levelled the game up 10 minutes after strike partner Ricky Lane had played a superb through ball to find Andrews.

After some stern words in the dressing room at the break, Lock headed home a curling free-kick to give the hosts a deserved lead.

Devaney made it three on the hour mark with a composed finish.

But, the visitors showed great resilience as Nott had to deny Charles Weir after he had strolled through the hosts’ defence.

Cranborne reduced the deficit to just one soon after. Luke Conrad scored after a neat move down the right saw Conrad strike home a crisp finish.

But, Kenderdine was on hand to wrap up the game with an 75th minute strike that saw his side move level on points with league leaders Holt United.
