BRIDPORT manager Adam Fricker felt his players “let the club down” as they were hammered 5-0 by Chipping Sodbury Town at The Ridings.

The hosts took the lead in the 20th minute and never looked back from there.

They went 3-0 up before the break before scoring two more in the second half to finish the rout.

Sam Jenkins scored a brace for the home side and there were also goals for David Sims-Burgess, Joe Guest as well as Jack Parker.

Speaking after the game, Fricker was scathing of his team’s display.

He said: “Throughout the whole team we made stupid errors and we didn’t seem up for it.

“I stressed before the game that they matched Bristol Manor Farm, a team at the top of the league, last week but it meant nothing if we couldn’t do it again.

“It’s frustrating and a few things have been said at half-time and after the game about the situation.

“This can’t carry on. We need to nip it in the bud.

“We need to start getting points on the board.

“We let the club down, that’s myself and the lads.

“They weren’t justified in wearing the shirt and it’s down to them to make it right.”

The Bees were 1-0 down after 20 minutes after the away side didn’t defend well.

That became a common theme throughout the first half as they conceded two more in quick succession before the break.

The hosts’ third goal was a stunning strike from 25 yards but that was no consolation for the Bees’ manager.

After half-time, Gary Bulman was put up top to add some physicality in the absence of Mark Salter, but it didn’t seem to help as the hosts scored two more before the end of the game, including a goal caused by a mix-up between Bridport stopper Jason Hutchings and Ryan Hayter.

It was a game to forget for the Bees and now, with a two-week break until their next game, Fricker is hoping to add some reinforcements to the squad.

He added: “I think we need a bit of freshness in the team and a bit of experience.

“We’re looking at a couple of players and putting some approaches in for them.

“We have to bounce back against Hallen because we’re in the mix and we have to turn that tide quickly and get some confidence back.”
