WEYMOUTH RESERVES 4

HYTHE & DIBDEN 1

A BRACE from Conor Jevon as well as an own goal and a strike from Dom Panesar-Dower saw Weymouth Reserves record a 4-1 win over Hythe & Dibden at the Bob Lucas Stadium on Saturday.

Panesar-Dower netted the opener before the break only to see Mark Lilley cancel it out after half-time.

But the winger set up Jevon for his double to seal the game after Hythe had put one in their own net.

It was the Terras’ second league win in a row after beating Romsey in their previous fixture, but manager Bradley Asagba felt his side were wasteful in Saturday’s victory.

He told Echosport: “We’re pleased with the three points. But we had 23 attempts on goal and only scored four.

“We were dominant from start to finish, but maybe because we were so dominant we didn’t play with the same desire and intensity that we should have.

“If we had then the scoreline would have been more.

“We were wasteful, but anytime we did go up a gear we looked good.

“But, we need to do that on a more regular basis.”

Panesar-Dower got the hosts going early on with a smart finish after Jevon had played the winger in.

Chances went begging before the break for the Terras as they could have been out of sight by half-time.

They were then made to pay for it seven minutes after the break as Lilley equalised for the visitors.

That goal seemed to spark Weymouth into life as they retook the lead three minutes later.

Panesar-Dower turned provider for Jevon, who slotted home a composed finish.

There was a bit of good fortune about the Terras’ third goal as Hythe found their own net with 20 minutes to go, but there was nothing lucky about their fourth.

After a flowing move, Panesar-Dower found Jevon in the 78th minute and the striker showed a cool head under pressure to seal what was a comfortable win for the hosts.

Speaking about his dynamic duo, Asagba said: “There’s a relationship forming there, which is pleasing.

“Dom feels he should be scoring more and it’s great to see him firing.”

Up next for Weymouth Reserves is a home game on Wednesday night (7.45pm) against Ringwood Town.
